Crop Tops

Crop tops are a great type of shirt that can grab the attention of others. Most shirts we wear fall around hips length and are fitted. A crop top comes to a shorter length, usually around the waist or belly button. Materials can vary, from heavy knits to plain t-shirts to flowy thin silks.

A crop top can make or break your look. This kind of shirt cuts the visual aspect of your body proportions differently than a regular t-shirt. The length and fit of a crop top can vary. A short, fitted crop top will draw attention to your mid-drift. These work best for people with a long torso. Wearing a short crop top that falls close to your waist can work against someone of a shorter height. Petite like me? Try a longer crop top that falls around belly button's length, or right above your hips. If you wish to avoid attention to your belly, a loose billowy crop top works best.

Many girls have those days where you might feel bloated, crappy, or out of shape. Sick of throwing on a loose sweater or sweatshirt to cover up your mid-drift? Throw on a crop top, and feel instantly fierce and energized.

We tend to see crop tops with a retro feel, usually circa 80s or 90s. Many times they may sport an image/pattern that pertains interest to that time period, such as cartoon characters,  neon fonts, and other vintage pop culture media. If you're looking to throw on an outfit that gives you that late 80s-early 90s feel, a crop top is a great way to go.

I love this pink t-shirt crop top just about as much as I love vampires.
On that note, I'm off to watch True Blood!

Biosilk Hair Care Review

I've been meaning to do this review for a while now, but I wanted to give myself more time to develop a set opinion. A few years ago I used to use the Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum, but after a couple bottles my mom just never got it again. Her choice probably was based on the fact that the serum can be expensive, which is understandable considering how insanely soft it leaves your hair. So it was no surprise when I saw the boxed set at a very great price in Target-- $26!

The Biosilk Silk Therapy set comes with the shampoo, conditioner, and serum in full size bottles (12 oz each). Purchasing the trio was cheaper than just the serum, and I was curous to give the shampoo and conditioner a try considering I've only used the serum previously.

What makes Biosilk so special? The Biosilk products contain silk proteins, which help deliver soft, smooth hair that has a healthy shine.

I especially favor the conditioner because it also has UV filters. This helps protect the hair from UVA and UVB rays. We apply sunblock and sunscreen to protect the rest of our bodies, and it is also important to protect the hair.

After showering I use the Silk Therapy serum while blowdrying my hair. The serum can be used on wet and dry hair, as well as skin! Yes, on your skin. The serum conditions your skin leaving it feeling so silky. I like to use this on my rough parts, such as elbows and knees.

I like to use this serum to protect my hair from too much heat damage when I blow dry and straighten my hair. I simply pour a small amount into my palms and apply it all throughout my hair, focusing mostly on my ends. Really, a little goes a long way with this serum. It feels unbelievably lightweight in comparison to other hair serums. After straightening my hair I also like to apply a little more before I go out to smoothen my hair and give it a little extra shine.

When I wear my hair naturally curly, I usually like to maintain my curls with mousse. However this could sometimes make my curls more stiff and crunchy. The Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum works great on my natural curls, giving them a soft and bouncy feel. Usually my curls look dry and frizzy, but the Biosilk Serum makes my curly hair look shiny and healthy.

Overall, the Biosilk Silk Therapy products are great to give your hair a smooth and shiny feel, just like silk, because they contain silk proteins. It works great on dry and wet hair, as well as skin. The conditioner contains UV filters to protect hair from UVA/UVB rays. The serum is great for all hair types and is buildable, so you can use it as much as necessary.

July 3, 2010

Met up with Felix and Lawrence after we all got out of work. We headed over to Target because they wanted to get some sunglasses for those bright, hot days of work lol.

They match, how cute <3.

Super asian hahahaha!

They mean serious business.

Afterwards the guys went home to shower and such before everyone met up at Lawrence's house for a BBQ.

This little girl is absolutely adorable! She kept feeding everyone cherries. I loved when she would say, "IT'S SO FLUFFY!!" Hahahaha :)

Till then!

July 2, 2010 -- One Year Anniversary

Today was Felix and mine's one year anniversary :) <3. While waiting for him to come pick me up my cousins and grandma visited.
My grandma's new chihuahua, Kischke. She prefers to call him Kiki.

My adorable cousin <3.

Felix and I picked up Christina to take her to her gallery opening. I absolutely loved going! I love walking around open galleries and studios, it's so inspiring.

Here's inside the gallery where Christina's artwork was featured, along with other workers of the gallery. Each artist had one of their pieces on display.

Christina's photo on display in the gallery :). Her book was also on display in the front of the room, showing the entire story/collection.

This was a really cool piece. The whole picture was a really cool 3d effect. I'm not sure what the material used was called, but it almost looked like a smooth waxy surface... I'll have to ask Christina and see if she remembers!

We then went on to look at the open studio spaces.
A really cool artist named John Gonnella painted this piece of Felix the Cat. It's not finished, but when we saw it we had to have a picture of Felix with it! Hahaha.

Will and JJ showed up before we left.

Afterwards Felix and I went over to Dali's for dinner in Somerville. It was our first time trying out this tapas restaurant, and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very intriguing. Although the building looks small from the outside, don't let it it fool you-- the restaurant is quite big. Inside is furnished with wooden chairs and latin-inspired tiled tables. The walls were covered with many Spanish influenced decorations. I wanted to take photos of the restaurant, but didn't want to disturb other customers and draw attention with a bright flash inside the dark restaurant; the only light we really had was from candles placed on every table.
Please excuse the poor quality photos!

Before we left we decided to grab a quick snapshot with flash of our dessert-- batter covered strawberries with ice cream!

Camwhore time <3.

"Deer in headlights" expressions hahaha.

Felix, this year has gone by so fast. Although we've only been together for one year, it feels like so much longer. I'm so thankful for your patience (when you have it), and how kind you are to me. Even if we have times where we upset each other, we're able to move on quickly because nothing can stop our feelings for each other. With each day our love grows, and I'm happy to spend my time with you. You mean so much to me, more than you probably realize. Thank you for always being there for me <3.
